The Idea

Since I was 16, I have wanted to take a gap year and experience work and life somewhere I have never been before. The family rule however was that I complete my studies first and THEN embark on ym crazy adventure. So, here I sit, five years out of school with an undergraduate in Psychology and Industrial Psychology and an honours in Brand Leadership...

And where am I? I am teaching English in Gumi City in South Korea!! It is pretty amazing here and I am enjoying the complete change in my life (I think Korea is about as different from South Africa as I could imagine)...

Many people, while very supportive of this decision, found my idea to step out of the branding world for a whole year to be very risky. And yes, this is true. What I love about this industry is its ability to constantly change and develop to suit the current needs of the people. This is also what makes it risky to leave- a year away from the idustry can often yield one redundant.

And so, my smart sister came up with this idea- a branding journal. One of the many joys of tehnology is that everything is accessible- no matter where in the world you are. And so, potential readers, enthusiasts and perhaps employers, here it is: my hopefully regularly updated and current view of what is happening in the world of branding today.

Here, I will document changes, anything I find amazing, any potential "fails" in the branding industry- anything to show that I have kept up... even in Korea...
